Although now based in Edinburgh, my background is Highland-Hebridean and my main source of inspiration. I rarely set out to capture a specific scene. Instead, I prefer to let memories merge with the paint to form landscapes of shifting light and reflective moods. To me, this mixture of emotion and colour is an expression of my own sense of time, place and identity. I try, in the completed pieces, to give the observer freedom to personalise them with individual thoughts and feelings. Originals and prints of my work are sold through several Scottish galleries and exhibitions. In 2000 I was selected to take part in Scotland's Year of the Artist millennium project and worked with my native community of Lochcarron in Wester Ross to create the Stromemeannach Project and Community Book - It remains a personal highlight in a 20 year journey with art.
